Microsoft said, “forget windows 9, let’s skip to 10”. The demo was still in its beta form but they just want to show some of the features of their upcoming operating system. People was not surprised to see the start menu back on windows 10 which made a lot of people happy but there target was mostly towards corporations and businesses to upgrade from windows 7. In fact, they mention Windows 7 a lot throughout their presentation to give the audience some comfort and the familiar similarities of the two operating systems. They also inform the audience that they were not showing off any applications that will run with the operating system just the OS itself.
