2012 Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel is in the news again. ESPN is reporting that the NCAA is looking into whether Manziel was paid for signing sports memorabilia. According to the report, three people witnessed Manziel signing items for autograph broker Drew Tieman. Manziel has been in the news a lot this off-season for a variety of reasons ranging from sitting court side at the NBA finals games to being asked to leave the Manning Passing Academy and last but not least reports about his underage drinking. All of that stuff pales in comparison to a NCAA investigation. Why? If NCAA investigators can prove that these allegations are true Manziel’s career at Texas A&M is likely over. It’s no secret that big time college athletes like “Johnny Football” generate millions of dollars for their respective universities. The NCAA also profits from athletes like Manziel. If they can make money off of Manziel, then how come Manziel can’t make money off himself ?

Twelve other MLB players are also expected to be suspended for fifty games. Yankee shortstop Derek Jeter is headed back to the DL after a MRI revealed a Grade 1 calf strain. Jeter has only been able to play in a few games this season due to injuries. Jeter is a five-time World Series champion plus he’s a thirteen time All Star with over 3,000 hits. Jeter is 39 not 29 and father time is undefeated. It may be time for him to retire.

Is Tiger Woods back? I think he’s close, but in my opinion he still needs to win a major before I can say he’s completely back
